Abstract. The article deals with the system description of lexical units in English. The author of the article deals with the lexical-semantic macrofield “Royalty” and offers to perform its componential analysis and identify the microfields which it comprises. Such analysis allows to identify the dominant macrofield, local, and general peripheries, similarities, and differences in the analyzed language through structured sets of semantic features. The application of the componential analysis contributes to establishing a lexical interaction based on semantic interrelations between the words at the deep level because the minor components are not seen at the surface level. The interrelations between components can therefore yield the meaning enclosed at the surface level. The componential analysis is a way to get into the deep surface structure of words through establishing semantic interrelations between correlating words. It enables to find the meanings of the possible components which the words may have. The semantic analysis of words and collocations related to the macrofield “Royalty” helps to establish a network of relations between the terms and settles on a meaning that other semantic theories may not reach.
