 The 8th All-Russian Research and Methodological Conference with international participation on Current Issues in Modern Linguistics and Humanities was dedicated to the Year of Languages and Literatures of Russia and Great Britain and started work on March 18, 2016 at 12:00 pm to close on March
18, 2016 at 6:00 pm.

The conference was held at: No. 4 educational bld. of Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia, 7 Miklukho-Maklay Str., Moscow

 Conference organizers:

Institute of Foreign Languages of the Federal State Autonomous Educational Institution of Higher Education Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia, Lille Catholic University (France), Institute for Strategy of Education Development of the Russian Academy of Education.

Currently, a new view over known phenomena of modern science and practice of teaching foreign languages and humanities that takes into consideration the changes in the modern world and awareness of the young scientists’ role in the global distribution of linguistic knowledge is being formed.

Aims and objectives of the conference: the Conference aims to draw attention to the current burning issues of language learning and teaching, to maintain and develop promising branches of modern linguistics and humanities, strengthening the effectiveness of humanitarian component of education; to define the future development of research interests of graduate students of linguistic majors. Special attention is paid to the fundamental principles of the Bologna process: Lifelong Learning, student and faculty mobility, shifting emphasis of the educational process from the classroom to independent work and distance learning, multi-faceted technological innovation, media-rich environment.

The era of introduction of innovative technologies shifted the interest of linguists to the problems of cross-cultural communication and translation studies, communicative processes from an interdisciplinary point of view. Pedagogical principles of the cross-cultural communication studies explore how communication principles and basic functions of culture influence the perception and the different spheres and types of communication, settings, descriptions, and categories of culture that concern human activities.

The conference was held within the framework of the Year of Languages and Literatures of Russia and Great Britain and looked into a variety of functional aspects of cross-cultural communication in terms of integration around the world in a single educational process and the issue of formation of discursive social and cultural competence in the vocational and language training of translators, and multicultural world and tolerance.

Attendees at the conference have heard and discussed reports on the following topics:

  • General and language-specific linguistics issues.
  • Cross-cultural communication and translation issues.
  • Linguistic and methodological problems of teaching foreign languages.
  • Possible ways and trends of russia’s higher education development. Prospects, pursuit, solutions.
  • Multicultural world and tolerance.

Miguel Humberto Lecaro Barcenas, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Panama Republic in the Russian Federation.

Ruben Dario Flores Arcila, Republic of Colombia, Minister Counselor of the Embassy of the Republic of Colombia in the Russian Federation, associate Professor at the National University of Colombia, RUDN alumnus.

Maria Dolores Sanabria, Colombia, associate Professor at the University of Colegio Mayor de Cundinamarca.

Mounira Chribish, Tunisia, PhD in Philology, Russian language teacher, Maitre assistant, Institute of Languages, University of Carthage
